Forever Young with ColourQ

Good morning,

As soon as I saw this weeks colour combo over at ColourQ I knew I wanted to join in, I don't tend to use much Red but I like the colour so I thought, let's have a go!

Here is the colour palette for this week

Aren't those wooden heart gorgeous! I know these colours are calling out to make a valentines card with but I've already made my man his card, so I thought I would use the colours to make my friends birthday card.

I sponged Real Red around the Crumb Cake layer before stamping the tree from Forever Young in Basic Black, white ribbon was wrapped around to ground the tree. I then layered this onto a Basic Black matt. I then set to work stamping the frame in Regal Rose, Real Red and Basic Black, and my eyes went squiffy as I cut each frame out. I finished off the card with a greeting from the retired Plane and Simple set, cut with the Word Window punch and accented with an antique brad.

I saw a similar tag made on the internet a while back a remembered the lined up frames, but I'm afraid I can't remember where I saw it.

Don't forget to pop back tomorrow for the next Simply Stampin' challenge!

Colour Q Sail Away

Hi!

I wanted to play along with a couple of challenges, a colour combo from Colour Q and a sketch from Simply Stampin. When I first saw the colours I wasn't quite sure how I was going to put them all together, I was fine with the green blue and grey, it was the red that threw me.

However when I popped over to check out this weeks challenge at Simply stampin they had a great sketch and I knew that the strips along the bottom would be a great way to use all the colours!

I have changed the sketch just a little bit, I wanted to make a masculine card and I wasn't sure about the scallop trim along the bottom of the image panel so instead I've added a little row of jumbo eyelets.
I can't believe that I haven't used this stamp before, I've had it for ages!

Now it's seen ink once I'm sure I'll be reaching for it more often, I've seen it used in so many different ways!

See you again soon, xx

Paper Players Masculine Map

Hello again,

Twice in one day! This is becoming a bit of a habit, and with not much planned for the bank holiday weekend I can see more to come in the next few days. This time I'm playing along with a sketch set by The Paper Players, the sketch is a simple one but after trying to stay very simple (this one is on my desk and needs much, much more work!) I went with a bit more detail, I love layers so I had to put a few in this card.

Here is the sketch I have used for the card

I have swapped the three circular elements for a design split into three portions, I have done this before with an image but have seen it done a few times, I thought it was quite effective with the motorcycle image, I used a piece of paper from the Newsprint DSP which features a map, and the green band and repeated sentiment have come from the Plane and Simple set.

So glad that I managed to complete a card that I liked for this challenge, it's no fun when you finish something only to look at it and not really like it. I'm sure many of you will know what I mean, we are our own worst critic sometimes.

Hope you have fun plans for the weekend,  xx

A Play Date at Sweet Stop

Good Afternoon,

Surprise, surprise I've been looking at more challenges and I've got another combo for you today. When I got comments left on my blog I always try and get back to that person to leave a comment back. I had a comment left by a lovely lady and when I went to find the blog it came from I found a new challenge that I hadn't found before, it's called the Sweet Stop challenge and each week a new sketch is uploaded for us to have a go at. I have a long list of cards to my on my desk for my mum and on it was a card for my grandad so I thought that the colour combo on Play Date Cafe would be perfect for his card.

It was also an excuse for me to ink up a new stamp set that I've got called Plane and Simple, it's a really great set for men's cards, and even includes three very useful sentiments too!

So here is the sketch that I've followed

and the fabulous colour combo, can see this one being a firm favourite for men's cards,

So here is what I've come up with  for my combination of these two challenges

continuing my quest to use DSP in my cards, I have used a piece of Blueberry Crisp DSP for one layer of this card, stamped-off a border of two the elements in the stamp set. My boyfriend even liked this one so that's my man approval, normally I just get a half hearted 'it's nice' but he actually took this one and had a good look, so it must be OK.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, xx
