Happy Mother's Day!

Good evening,

On Friday, I shared some cards that my friend Nettie made (you can see the post here), and I really liked the layout of one of them especially so I decided to CASE it for my mum's mothers day card. I saw her this morning to give her the card so I know it's safe to show you now.

I went with the neutral Mocha Morning DSP, it's my mums favourite so I knew I was onto a winner with this one. I have used all the same elements as Nettie did in her original card expect I have stamped that in Chocolate Chip. I added Champagne shimmer paint to the little leaves die cuts, and another of the Antique tags.I also coloured some pearls with a gold pen and added them to the stamped image.

I was very glad when my mum opened her card and smiled, it's the best feeling when you're giving a card, and I'm happy to report that Julie my boyfriend's mum also loved her card (you can see it here).

Happy mother's day!! xx

Old Meets New

Good afternoon,

During the weekend I have been working on a very special card for a friend at work to give to her, son and Daughter-in-law to be, next week they will be getting married and I was honoured to be asked to make the wedding card.

I was asked for a Red, black and cream card, and I know that the bride is planning on having red roses in her bouquet, so I started off with my favourite retired set A rose is a rose, of course you can't make a wedding card with out another retired set I can't seem to let go of, Mr & Mrs.

I found the inspiration for the layout  on a sketch challenge called Freshly Made Sketches, a challenge that I've been meaning to enter for a long time, but never got around to

As you can see the sketch is meant to be a side opening DL card, but I was asked for an 8"x8" card, I hope the ladies don't mind that I've adapted it for my needs.

As I was asked to use red in the card, I choose the gorgeously deep Cherry Cobbler which fits perfectly with the PPA colour challenge

I stamped the flower spray from the Mr & Mrs stamp set  using my stamp-a-ma-jig, in alternate lines of Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black, to make the background paper, which means along with the rose that my card also fits the Paper Players challenge which this week is to use flowers on your card, perfect!

So without further a do ( or should that be I DO) here is the card

As you can see I've mixed my retired products with current ones, I love the Mocha Morning DSP, the texture is so great, and gives that luxurious feel, along with Black satin ribbon.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, xx

Simply Stampin' Heartfelt

Good morning,

wow! you certainly knew how to work those colours last week! this week is theme week and as Valentine's day is coming our way, the theme is 'heartfelt'. Head over to Simply Stampin' for this weeks inspiration from the design team, and enter your card, of course!

I have another commissioned card for you today, this gentleman is obviously a little more in touch with his feminine side than my boyfriend, as I was asked for red and lots of hearts,

Do you think I added enough hearts? I wanted to add ribbon, well if you can have a cascade of hearts then why not have ribbon, but I didn't want to go OTT, so I just tucked a little behind the sentiment.

Ok now it's your turn, I can wait to see all your 'heartfelt' creations.

Happy crafting

Mocha Morning Gift

Hello there!

When I opened the new catalogue the first thing I HAD to have was the beautiful Mocha Morning DSP, they are just so pretty with the gold details and flocking, when they arrived me and my mum opened and stroked them arguing over which ones were the prettiest.

So when I went on a trip to a craft store and found a square chipboard tissue box I knew I had to make one for my mum. I started by painting the base black,

then I chose three of the papers, (not an easy task in itself) rounded off the corners, and inked the edges for that vintage feel, then stamped the beautiful flourish from Baroque Motif set in Staz on ink, before giving the whole thing a spritz with shimmer paint for added sparkle. The lid piece is one of the flocked paper that just begged to be touched!

I'm sure my mum will love this gift, but I think it may still need something, maybe an embellishment to one of the sides? What do you think?

Plus don't forget there is still time to enter this week's Simply Stampin' colour challenge!
Hope you are having a fab day, xx

Simply Stampin' Sketch

Good Morning,

We had some fantastic entries into the Halloween challenge, last week, so lets hope that you'll enjoy this week just as much!

This week is sketch week, and it's a great one. I really like sketches they are the perfect jumping off point when making a card. So here is the sketch for this week.

I have decided to go for a Christmas card, and as I'm in love with my new Mocha Morning DSP I've teamed it with Dasher.

These papers have a really luxurious feel to them with touches of gold, I have used the Brushed Gold CS with them to bring out the gold.
I started by stamping the snowflake image from Winter Post with my Champagne mist shimmer paint (you can't have Christmas without sparkle), next was my toughest job, deciding which if the gorgeous DSP to use! I went with this beautiful stripe in the end, edged with more brushed gold CS. I couldn't resist adding a bit of Glass Glitter for Dasher to stand on!

I can't wait to see want you come up with for this sketch, xx
