Simply Stampin' Sketch Week

Good morning,

It's Saturday, and it's time for another challenge at Simply Stampin' this week it's back to the good old sketch, and as always we have a great one for you!

I've stuck to the sketch, using a circular stamp repeated and inked in the different colours, Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry and Night of Navy. I was still on a stitch high when I made this card so I decided to hand stitch grid lines around the circular elements. I added a sentiment from Up, up and away, and a clear button tied with linen thread.

I'm excited to see how you get on with this layout! Happy stampin' xx

White on White

Good morning,

Bank holiday weekend and I spy sunshine out my window, can it be true??

On Saturday mornings the first thing that I do is look at the Simply Stampin' and Less is More challenges and this week I've decided to combine them. It's a sketch challenge from Simply Stampin' this week which luckily for me a quite a simple design, perfect to combine with LIM!

This week at Less is More, the ladies have asked that we look for through the old challenges and pick three, well I had a hard time choosing, in the end I decided on
week 11 Acetate
week 14 white on white
week 16 butterfly/butterlies
week 25 button or ribbon
As you can see I couldn't decide on only three, so I went with four, hope the ladies don't mind!

Now I don't know if you see it but in the bottom corner of  the card is an acetate butterfly, which I have embossed. there is a strip which also has the ribbon on it, that is also acetate. I have glitter embossed a graphic flower from the Baroque Motif set, and finished off with Bitty Buttons.

I really love white on white cards! xx

Play Date and Sweet Sunday Combo

Good afternoon,

Not content with one post today I'm here with another!

This card is a combination of two challenges the Play Date Cafe challenge, which is a challenge all about colour, this week we have a very girly colour combo, of Coral, Petal Pink and Antique Gold.
So I sifted through my Colour Coach to find colours like these and came up with Tango Tangerine, Blushing Bride, ad So Saffron (I don't have any gold so I went for a golden yellow shade)

The second of the challenges I have used for my card is a sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge, I really like the sketches from this challenge site. They are normally quite simple so that you can take them wherever you'd like, here is this weeks sketch.

I really liked the photographs used for the Play Date colour story and was inspired by the dress to use my Sew Lovely stamp set. What do you think?

I used the eyelet border punch for the strips to carry on the fabric theme, I think they look a little like fabric strips.I kept my promise and used several pieces of DSP in this card.

Well that's all from me for today, see you later in the week with some more offerings, xx

White on White

Good morning,

Well as many of you will know I love my challenges at the weekend, yesterday I headed on over to Less is More to see what the lovely ladies had in store for us this week, and my heart sank. The theme is 'white on white' instantly I thought to myself I can't do that, and came away feeling quite upset that I wouldn't have a challenge to join in with. However this morning I was doing the rounds of my favourite blogs when I saw that the super talented Ruth over at Flower Sparkle had joined in, making a stunning card. So I thought well I'll give it a go, if it doesn't work out then I haven't lost anything.

On Sundays I always hop over to check out this weeks sketch at  the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge,

I always find inspiration there, and I thought I would combine the sketch with the 'white on white' brief so that I had a starting off point.

I must say that after all my worrying I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Don't get me wrong I don't think I'll be making another all white card again in a hurry but I enjoyed the challenge of only being able to use white. I went rather heavy on the embellishments but I feel that because they are all one colour that it still feels like 'Less is more', I hope the girls agree!

The recipe
Stamps, Baroque motifs
Paper, Whisper white CS
Ink, Versamark
Accessories, Dazzling diamonds glitter, Heat & stick powder, Square lattice embossing folder, Vintage wallpaper embossing folder, Daisies die cut, Bitty buttons, rhinestones, dimensionsals.

I hope that I might inspire some else to give it a try as Ruth inspired me.
I'm also entering this card into the Crazy 4 challenges blog.

Crafty cardmakers challenge - YELLOW!!

Good Morning!

Well it's Saturday morning so that means I must be making some cards for challenges!
I searched the Internet for challenges, Although I only started doing them a couple of weeks ago I'm completely hooked, and found a challenge that I haven't tried before called Crafty Cardmakers.

The challenge this time is that the main colour should be yellow, eek! This along with orange is my least favourite colour, I'm a little scared of it, but that's why it's called a challenge.
I wrote down 'yellow' on my pad that I keep on the computer desk for ideas and inspiration, and scurried away to my craft desk.

Here's what I came up with

I have been asked to make a few baby cards, so I thought that this gorgeous pale yellow called So Saffron would be perfect, this background paper has tiny little bunnies on it, from the Nursery suite paper pack. I have also snuck in a little Regal rose and Chocolate chip. It's hard to see (sorry my dodgy photography skills once again) but the striped rosette paper is also these three colours.

Now I;'ve just popped back over to the Crafty Cardmakers website and my heart sank, I hadn't read the rest of the rules for the challenge, it also required, ribbon, stitching and gems, normally all three of these feature in most of my cards but today, I have gone for buttons, doodling, and a strip of the same striped paper used for the rosette to tie it in.

I hope the ladies over at Crafty Cardmakers will forgive me, I must remember to read all the rules before running off to make my entry next time!!

The recipe for this card
Stamps, Baby Tees wheel, Whimsical words (last year's SAB)
Paper, Nursery suite speciality papers, Chocolate chip CS, Regal rose CS, Pink pirouette CS, Very vanilla CS
Ink, Regal rose, delightful daffodil, chocolate chip
Accessories, scallop border punch, scallop circle punch, scallop trim border punch, white gel pen, dimensionals, designers buttons, Bitty buttons.

Hope you like it, back soon

First party night nerves

Good afternoon!!

Yesterday I held my first real Stampin' up! party, I was incredibly nervous, but luckily it was with my friends as guests, and they were very kind to me.

I planned two make and takes, a side stepper card, and a bookmark, both using (you guessed it) products from the mini.

The side stepper card used the Sew lovely set, I love this set even though I'm not a sewer, I think the dress makers form is fab, and I love the bright colours of the co-ordinating paper pack.

The bookmark uses the elegance wheel, and Beautiful wings embosslit, this little guy is definitely my favourite item in the whole of the catalogue!!

Here are some close ups

This card fits an A6 card sized envelope, you can find measurements for the A5 size here or if you would like the measurements for this size please email me via the 'contact me' tab at the top of my blog.

Here's a side view

There are highlights of dazzling diamonds glitter down the wheeled section, don't think they are visible in this picture, but trust me they are beautifully sparkly.

Now that I have done my first proper party, I'm sure I will not be as nervous in the future, fingers crossed, and I'm told that all the girlie's were happy with what they made and took home with them.

If you would like to make these projects you will need
