Simply Stampin' Sketch Challenge

Good morning stampers,

This week over at Simply Stampin' it's sketch week, and we have a great one for you this week!

Today is my nephew Bailey's birthday, Happy birthday Bailey!! so I decided to use this sketch to make his birthday card, I wanted to make a fun bright coloured card, hope he likes it!

I started with the happy birthday builder wheel which I took off the wheel and mounted so I could use it as a stamp (I find it easier this way) and stamped it over the background in Tempting turquoise, Lucky limeade and Cherry Cobbler. I mounted this onto Cherry Cobbler CS, I used a piece of Tempting turquoise DSP with my scallop border punch for the banner strip, then cut a circle and run it through the Big Shot with my Polka dot embossing folder to echo the DSP. Next I watercoloured the car from the Need for speed stamp set in Tempting turquoise and popped it up onto my polka dot background. As I'd already added a sentiment over my background I decided to punch a scallop circle from Cherry cobbler CS and with my bakers twine create something a little different which I finished off with a button.

I can't wait to see what you come up with for this sketch!

I'm moving next week so I doubt my desk will be unpacked in time for next weeks challenge but I hope you'll pop back to see me again soon.

Happy crafting, xx

Oooo love the colourful stripes of 'happy birthdays' and the twine around the scalloped circle looks brilliant too. You asked about how I store my stamps: I keep them in baskets on top of my storage drawers, and will end up taking out the retired sets and rehousing them in a big wicker basket (like a big hamper box!) which I keep under the stairs. I'm about to start something else to help me organise them though - but you'll have to wait until my WOYWW post to see it as I've not done it yet!

Wow, how bright and happy is this card! It's awesome and I'm sure your nephew will love it! I really like the way you wrapped the twine around your scalloped circle and it looks like a wheel with spokes - very fitting with the car image :)

I'm always checking your blog, so I'm sure to be here once you've moved and got settled in (and found a space to craft in!)

Loves xx

I love your background! That is a great tip about taking the builder wheels off the spindle - I've seen it done with the Jumbo wheels but hadn't thought to do it with builders! What a great tip - I can see myself getting a whole lot more use out of it flat mount than on a wheel! Like the bakers twine on the scallop circle! Cute touch! xx

Fab card Kelly, love the bold colour combo - and a great idea to wrap twine around the scalloped circle! Hmmmm, I love how you used the wheel stamp as a background - I may have to purchase that now!

Best of luck with the move hun, hope all goes well
