Paper Piecing with Love Letters

Hiya!!

Well this  is the last of the cards I made the weekend before last, however I do have another stack of cards to share with you from last weekend, including a couple of men's cards, shock horror!!

This final card again uses some retired DSP, called Love Letter, I have mixed this with the beautiful rose from the Happiness Shared stamp set.

I always love the combo of red, black and cream, so these papers were always dear to me, and I had a little left over from last year, so I thought why not?!
For the rose I stamped the image onto the Vanilla CS, then again onto the Love Letter DSP and some Old Olive DSP, cut out the sections and glued them to the Vanilla piece, this is a really great way of adding colour, I left some of the sections uncoloured as I didn't want to over do it. Have you tried this technique before? If not give it a go, it's so easy!

Viva la Verve Part 2

Hi there,

I'm back with the next Viva la Verve sketch of the month. I decided that this sketch would be perfect for a wedding card my mum has asked me to make for a wedding she is going to the beginning of next month. She asked for a monochrome card, and I couldn't resist a bit (well maybe quite a lot) of sparkle for this one.

Because this sketch was so wonderfully simple it meant I could really go to town with the stamped and glittered background, without over-powering the finished card, I haven't got an oval die........yet, so I've substituted with a rectangle.

See what I mean about the sparkles?! there are also a couple of rhinestones on the letters, and I teamed it with a strip of polka dot DSP finished with some black satin ribbon.

Really enjoyed making this one, I'm on a roll now, next sketch to follow later, xx

Hi there,

Sorry for my absence from blog land this week, it has been a bit crazy here. Work was mad, I work in a doctors surgery and you be would amazed at what a few extra closure days can do! It's like people panic-buying in the supermarkets, only it's with their prescriptions.

Also this week we have decided to move, which means LOTS of sorting out and not much time for crafting (boo hoo), I'm dreading the time between packing and selling when all my crafting stuff will be packed away.

However in the sorting out of my craft space, I came to realise that I have far more stamp sets than I imagined, don't get me wrong I'm not completely in denial I know that I have lots, I just didn't realise that I currently have 67 stamp sets with a couple more ordered today. A lot of which have only been inked a handful of times and some never. So I have decided that this will have to change, I love my SU! stamps I don't want to have to sell any so they have to be put to good use. I am guilty of having favourite sets (I'm sure I'm not the only one) and it was pointed out to me, that I seem to put a butterfly on everything!

From now on I am on a mission to use a different set for each card I make until I have used them all!

I'm starting off with a set that I have used before but a stamp that has never seen ink, called Notably Ornate. Now that I have used it I can't believe that I haven't inked this baby up before, it is gorgeous, there is so much detail in it that it makes a great focal point for a card. I've covered up the 'no 5' in the corner with the swallow from the set, which I have used before, once. This has been teamed with the Love letter paper pack, which I have loved so much that I think I will have to be ordering another soon! I have based this card on the Mojo Monday sketch, although I have changed the shape of the focal point and didn't add ribbon (most unlike me) I didn't have any matching colour ribbon left.

Please confront me, by letting me know if you share this problem of buying things and guiltily not getting around to using them, it can't just be me.

Anniversary bliss

As promised here is another of the anniversary cards that I have made for my sister.
For this one I have used another of the FREE sale-a-bration stamp sets, it's hard to believe that they could give away such gorgeous stamp sets for free!
The bliss set is timelessly elegant and stylish, and looks great in simple colour combos, I have used it today with basic black and very vanilla.
I hope you'll agree that it turned out quite well.

The love letter paper pack has some great pieces in black and vanilla (as shown above) and also red and vanilla, it makes the perfect background to a card, I've used mine so much I'm going to have to get another!

Tall and skinny? Not at all like me!

I normally tend to make A6 or square cards but I was rummaging through my craft room drawers at the weekend and came across a few tall thin card blanks that I bought forever ago, so I thought I'd try something different. Now I'm not saying that I'll be making them all the time but it's nice to have a change every now and then, and this was a good change I hope you'll agree.

Apologises for the terribly shadowy picture, I wanted to get them all photographed before the light went and time was not on my side, when I get creative time just flies by!
I had lots of little pieces of the designer love letter paper left over and didn't want to waste any, they are so pretty that it would be a crime to throw them away!

Another red, black and white creation

Hi there!

I'm liking the combo of red, black, and white at the moment so here is another card I've made using these colours,

I sponged the cherry cobbler ink using a sponge dauber onto white card before stamping the flower head image over the top using stazon so that it would give a more muted effect, the border around the flower image is also from the same Because I care stamp set. I love my stamp-a-ma-jig, its a godsend for lining up things like this.
The sentiment is taken for the Notably ornate stamp set.

Because I Care

Hi,
Today I have made a card using the Because I Care set, It's fast becoming one of my favourite sets. I love the giant flower head and the sentiments in this set, and best of all it was a FREE hostess level 1 set, so I didn't even have to pay for it, everything is nicer when it's free!

To make this card I also used a set called Notably Ornate, It's very on trend with the bird that I've used for this card, and would be great for vintage style cards.

Baroque meets Boho

Today I've been playing with some of my new stash, its the Boho blossoms punch.
This punch features 3 flowers which I've layered up to make blossoms that (I think) look like water lilies.

I have matted and layered the white card stock onto green and then pink card, stamped the gorgeous swirl from Baroque Motifs, and added the 'for you' sentiment from Fresh Cuts. I find it really hard not to add gems and ribbon to cards and this one is no exception, so I added a gem to each end of the sentiment to draw your attention to it and finished with some fantastic pink ribbon.

I ordered rather a lot of stash in October for my birthday, but with the made Christmas rush (I always think I'm well prepared but it still manages to creep up on me!) I hadn't got around to using it yet.

This next card uses one of the stamp sets that I was most excited about in the current catalogue, Artistic Etchings which has a beautiful key, crown, two flourishes and sentiment as well as the Eiffel tower, the stamp that I have used for my card.

I'm quite pleased with the way this one turned out, originally the scallop bordered pieces were going to be the bottom of the card but I could face covering up my fabulous ribbon/lace.
